I was looking over twitter today and noticed a link to an article about adding Google webfonts to TinyMCE in Moodle. Now, this may sound cool, because it lets you use any of 600+ fonts in your content, but the fault is right there in that statement too. It lets you use any of 600+ different fonts. It allows you to deviate from that carefully crafted design your institution spent thousands of dollars developing, testing and implementing, for a little whimsical fun. Things get messy quickly. You’ll end up with a site that looks like child’s third birthday party, colours here, strange fonts there, and a mess all over the place. For the love of all things pink and fluffy, just don’t do it.
